Where did everyone stay while in Munich?
Whats the favored Hotel for delivery? I would like to be near the Welt but also near restaurants/shopping/beer
I understand their public transportation is fantastic so maybe walking distance isn't much of a concern? My delivery is the 8th but our flight is getting in the 7th at 8am

I have stayed at the Hilton, but it is about 400 per night. When we went to O'fest, we stayed at a bed and breakfast in a town called Hohenschaftlarn, about 20 km south of the city and right on the rail line. It was about 100 per night and awesome.

We stayed at the Marriott. Cab ride to Welt was 12 Euros. U-Bahn station to downtown short walk.
Take public transit to downtown, do not try to drive and park in downtown. We tried on first day and turned around and went back to hotel, then went back down on public transit. Parking is a nightmare downtown. |

I stayed at the Hilton Munchen near Marienplatz. It's a bit of a train ride away, but nothing bad and the trains are awesome. You're also very close to Marienplatz which is a fantastic place to walk about and explore.

We stayed at Le Meridien and there is also a Sofitel directly across the street at the hauptbahnhof. It's about a 5 minute walk to Marienplatz from it and the hauptbahnhof is a good hub for catching the U-bahn.

I stayed at Hotel Blauer Bock, few minutes from Marienplatz.
Small boutique hotel, not too expensive and my room was great. They recommended some great restaurants around there. |

Augustines-Keller Beer garden is a must and it's in the Marienplatz. It's the 2nd largest beer garden in Germany. And they have pretzels that are 12" in circumference. LOL I was just there the other day.

I always stay at the Kempinki when in Munich, centrally located close to everything. Restaurant Davvero is quite good if you need a break from Bavarian fare.

Well, I stayed across the street from the BMW Motorrad and walked to the Welt. Took the metro whenever I went to Marienplatz. While I would have preferred to stay near the plaza, it was right after Ofest and a couple we spoke to while dining at the HBHaus said their hotel in the city center smelled of puke, so I think I was OK.

I have my ED pickup scheduled with an 8am checkin time and an arrival in the evening from London, so I was planning to stay at the airport hotel and have the complimentary transfer to the Welt the following morning.
Has anyone done that before, are they OK to do it? |

We cashed in points and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Munich City Center. It is a short walk to the main train station and the Marienplatz.
