2015 vs. 2016 ED order
Hi all,
I'm completely new to this board and to BMW. I've been debating ordering a 228 xdrive convertible with ED. I saw in the 2016 ordering guide that the engine is different -- now SULEV. Can anyone give me information re: this change in the engine? All things considered, if I will be ordering the car soon, do you think it is better to wait to get the 2016 model? Thanks in advance for your time and expertise! |

I don't know much about the 228i's engine, but I'll say that if you can snag a 2016 ED with the same deal you'd get on a 2015, and you can afford the moderate price increase over the 15, then your car will automatically be worth more than the 15, just because of its model year. So that's when you'd do it. I'm hearing from my dealer that the first ED's for the 16's will be in August or September.

Well, you can read up about SULEV engines. They're for states like California that have tighter emissions restrictions. There are some extra pieces to the SULEV engine, but you shouldn't notice any difference between the SULEV and standard engine.
As for your debate, I don't think there is much of any debate to be had. Start of production on 2016s is next month, which means this is the last month 2015s will be built and you're not going to get a date for June ED at this point. I mean, maybe if you wanted to do ED next month, it might be possible if you're really flexible with your date selection. Maybe
