Lowering M235i with M-sport adaptive suspension
Has anyone lowered his M235i with active (adaptive) suspension, or is fitting aftermarket springs like H&R only recommended with the passive M-sport suspension?

Yep.
I've Eibach sprinds (pro kit) on my M235i with adaptive suspension. It's more precise and still comfy. Good choice. |

Which Eibach springs? Got a link, price, and approximate drop? Pics!

I have H&R's on my adaptive M135i here in UK. Great mod, improves handling w/o ruining the ride. Stance is more level than slightly nose down stance of the eibachs.

Part number for RWD is E10-20-030-02-22, or E10-20-030-03-22 for AWD. Also, I use bumpstops that Dinan sells with their kit (oem part number 31331138814 front and 33536762722 rear) since the lowering seems very similar. Initially, I used trimmed original bumpstops and that sucked when hitting potholes, etc. The combo with "dinan" bumpstops works great, though. The lowering is less than H&R which I think is good as you still get enough shock travel. for RWD it's supposed to be 20 mm front and 10 mm rear, for AWD it's 15 mm front and 10 mm rear. I can confirm for the AWD as measured several months after install, exactly 15 and 10 mm on my car. The car actually looks lower than just 15/10 mm, but not slammed like on H&R. I checked and double-checked and it's only 15/10 mm lower although because the nose is a bit lower than the back it plays that visual trick on you. The ride is a bit stiffer and somewhat harsher on road imperfections, think almost like sport mode on stock suspension, maybe a bit harsher on junctions but still absolutely usable for everyday and quite comfy overall. Sharper turn-in, more precise and a bit better handling overall, a bit heavier steering that feels just right, less nose dive and better cornering, a bit less body roll, and what was most important to me - a lot more stable at high speed, a good satisfying planted feel. Im running H&R springs on Adaptive. Definitely makes the ride a bit stiffer over bumps but normal driving is still very smooth.

For my part, I will have to revert back to the stock M235 suspension until a better solution comes along. For the moment, any coilover or other strut/spring setup lowers the car too far beyond the roads in my area to be comfortable with.

To name a few: 1. Dinan springs plus bumpstops that come with them. 2. Eibach Pro-Kit (15/20 mm front and 10 mm rear, cheaper and probably just as good if not better function-wise) 3. H&R 15 mm lowering version front and rear (as opposed to 25 mm lowering that most folks use) 4. Vogtland springs (15 mm lowering front and rear) 5. Lightweight Lower Spring Kit (15 mm version) 6. ... At least, that's what I came across when searching for lowering springs for my car. There are some other options but they lower more than 15 mm so I didn't bother as I see no point in driving "on bumpstops". I'd say "dinan" bumpstops are mandatory with all of the above (see OEM numbers above). I've had Eibach springs for 6k miles and, knock on wood, the shocks are fine so far, though my roads are far from perfect. |

Did some looking,
1. Dinan may be ok, Im not sure I Like the 1' rear drop for the RWD 2. Same problem with Eibach and which one would be better? 3. H&R Part number for 15mm is hard for me to figure out. I appears that part number is for the 228. At least in the NA catalog. I also can not confirm only a 15mm drop. Bee Pee is this what you have and can confirm its only 15mm and fits adaptive suspension?4. I contacted Vogtland as the EU catalog says 15mm and the NA says 19MM.They said its somewhere between. I wasn't happy with this answer to be honest. 5.Still waiting to hear from the NA lightweight distributer (supreme power) Does anyone have any experience with them? Cheers |

I did Dinan Springs - Car is X-drive.
I feel like the rear dropped almost an inch compared to what it was soposed to drop. Could just be me but thats what it seems. i am Extremely happy with the springs. The Ride comfort hardly changed. Biggest notice was it got rid of alot of the bouncyness that you get when in Comfort mode. Sport mode is slightly stiffer, a little noticeable but not spine crushing stiff. I personally couldn't be happier with the springs. |

http://www.tunershop.com/15mm_Vogtla...883946_h4.html However, I cannot find a review for them. I'm not a fan of the 1" drop in the rear on Dinan either. I wish it was 1/2" all around to be honest. Since I want to add 19" wheels and the M3/4 LCAs. Found H&R 15mm springs, but only on a German website. Have not found these in the US yet.

Vogtland say 15mm on the EU catalog and 19mm for North America. I contacted vogtland directly and they said they will be somewhere between 15 and 19. I didn't contact HR directly but the North American rep said the 15mm are for the 228 so I would be worried about spring rates. Supreme power is the distributor for lightweight and they are (hopefully) getting me some answers. Lightweight is on holiday till the end of the month though. |

I drive my M235i rather aggressively and fast, and I hope this (and not soft spring materiel) is the reason that my car - now 14 months old - looks much, much lower than new. I know - all springs settle, buy this is my first car that settled down that much. Just see the picture!
