What are the widest tyres that fit on the 2? I was thinking either a 225/255 setup or a 235/265 but worried the latter might rub since my car is lowered...

It depends on exactly what width/offset combination you're running. We've test fit 255/35/18 with 9.5 ET50 and it cleared the fenders and was just MM away from the strut (< this may vary depending on how wide your strut is compared to stock).

235 in the front would probably be best achieved with a 8.5/8 inch wheel in an offset around +40. We've seen 8.5 ET35 with 235 and there's just a slight amount of wheel poke.

You can see in the pictures below, a little bit of negative camber from lowering may theoretically help tuck the wheels a bit further in.

I ended up doing 225/255 since my car is quite low... didn't want to risk rubbing lol
