I didn't see it mentioned on this thread but I keep hearing/reading but not buying into this whole competition has caught up shenanigans. Does anyone even see that 1 competition on this list? Closest is CTS which is more of a 5 comp. Just sayin....

Mazda is the only auto maker that has two cars on the list. Surprisingly, you ask most people would you talk a Mazda6 over a 328i or Audi A4, the answer is a big no. Another point, what does Mazda3 bring to the table to deserve a seat? The answer is plain nothing. I can argue with all other cars on the list (except the M235 of course!).
I stopped my C&D subscription last year when I noticed the Detroit influence on it ... Never returning back ... Good for you MT! |

CTS will trickle down to the new ATS and ATS-V which Cadillac is trying to push to the 3/4 series and M3/4 buyers.

Trying is the correct word. Cadillac sales of ATS and CTS are down significantly this year and inventory is well over 140 day supply at dealers. As long as it's a part of GM it will continue to suck, just look at the dealers. 3 times as many dealers as BMW with half the sales.

No surprise...
The F30 sucks as a drivers car, sorry but if you disagree you've lost touch with what a 3 series always was. The F10 is drop dead sexy but sucks in the driving dynamic area too. I've grown to like the F80/2 but I don't love it. The M235 is the only car I really like and I sure as shit ain't rushing out to buy it. M2, possibly if it isn't like te current line up. |

BMW is no different. The 3 kept getting bigger and so they introduced the 1 (and now 2) series. So the new 2 series is the equivalent of the old 3 series. Last edited by snaimpally; 11-20-2014 at 09:06 PM.. |

This is a big deal. They did not replace the 3 series with the 2 series either as some are claiming. Anyone who has read C&D for a long time knows that they felt the 3 series was the benchmark entry level luxury sedan over the last two plus decades. Its removal from this list suggests it no longer is.
Really, BMW, time to go back to building Ultimate Driving Machines again. |

I honestly don't understand why the M235i is being hailed as the perfect car while the 135i was overlooked by so many automotive publications. I guess a decent set of tires makes all the difference.

No kidding, couldn't agree more. Personally I'll take the N54 an hydro steering. Plus the E82 looks miles better to me.

one of the comparison tests on the 228i (pre-track pack) acknowledged this...it's so true!
