JB4 Stage 1 Require Scanner Cable?
Hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse here...I've searched and searched and have still not found the answer.
I only have BMS Intake and M Perf Exhaust on my car. I'm interested in the BMS N55 Stage 1 because I'm not adding DP or any other mods, and it's plug and play (no splicing/tapping). My one concern is if I will need the Scanner tool from BMS (http://www.burgertuning.com/scanner.html) to delete tuner detection codes if the BMS N55 Stage 1 even shows those to the ECU. Do I need the BMS USB cable to upgrade firmware on the Stage 1? I just bought one used from someone with a 5 series (Stage 1 Harness B). |

I edited my original post. Yes it's static so I would assume you wouldn't need it. The SMEs here could give you the correct answer. Stage 1 is plug and play. Only way to "upgrade" is to purchase stage 2....EWG/FF wires...USB.

With a BMS Stage 1's latest board, you can use the usb cable to do a datalog only.
The earlier BMS Stage 1 doesn't have the serial port to connect to.

Does this modification voids the BMW warranty? To the guys that already have a modification like this one, do you remove it before taking the car to the dealership? Do you guys know of any risk with this modification? I have not upgraded the intake on my M235i just yet. I'm leasing, what do you guys recommend I should do as far as modifications on the M235i?
