228i Brake Dust
I know obviously brake dust will accumulate on the wheels. In the past I have had some vehicles where the dust was so bad the silver paint was almost black in a week. My question is how is the accumulation with the 228i. I have one that just ended production and hopefully we be here soon.

As someone on another post so cleverly wrote:
Germans don't mind brake dust as long as it stops. Americans don't care if it stops, as long as there's no dust. |

My 228 Msport it's by far the worst I've ever seen on any car. After a week wheels are almost black. Since I Had the wheels opticoated, they're easy to clean at least.

Wax, seal, or coat the wheels and give yourself an excuse to wash your car every week. |

Thanks for the info. Now I'm confused. One person says there is little dust the other states there is a lot of dust. I looked and correct me if I'm wrong but the M Sport 228i has the same brakes as the baseline 228i correct?

I have the 228 MSport also with standard brakes and they dust like crazy. And I don't use the brakes hard either. As bad or worse than earlier BMW's I had.

On our M235i I found that when using a wheel coating designed for resisting dirt/brake dust the brake dust still gets caked on, but is super easy to remove using just water. Whereas without the coating I needed wheel cleaners, soap, water, ect..
here is a blog we wrote on applying the coating to the Zito ZS01's that are on our M235 http://www.watershedautocare.com/blo...-wheel-armour/ |
