228i on track experience?
Hey guys
I'm in the process of finding a new track toy and have been looking at used P cars ($<35k), however I had another idea... Should I consider a relatively base 228i, manual and do some basic prep such as suspension /brake pads to have a solid car with a 4yr warranty. I'm a mid level driver. Last car was a 135i N54 and sadly it did not fare well on the track with all kinds of over heating and limp mode issues. And let's not forget the under steer issues due to poor front camber set up. Oh and the overheating of the brembo brakes due to poor ducting for cooling. And as I'm sure you are imagining about now, the list goes on... SO... Has anyone taken a 228i out yet on the track, and if so how does it hold up... Especially the brakes, heating issues, etc? Thanks in advance.

Sadly, I've not had a chance to take a 228i on the track.
However, if you're thinking about tracking a 228i, you may want to think about getting a M Sport. I have been unable to confirm it, but, allegedly, the removal of the fog lamps includes the installation of additional radiators that improve cooling. |

The stock M235i will be good enough for track.
Flush the breaking fluids and change the pads and you are good to go! http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=21 |

I have an M Sport and plan on taking it to Roebling Road soon, I'll be sure to give a full review.

I plan on tracking my 228i with M sport package but just daily driving the car I did notice that even the the M sport suspension is really soft around turns, specially on hard corners. Can't wait to do aftermarket sway bars, camber plates and coilovers.
