Congrats on your car.
I was pretty surprised to see these pictures, since I know exactly where they were taken - West German BMW. If you bought the 228i they had in stock, I test drove it on 7/5 with my brother. All I can tell you is that you won't have a problem doing 100 mph on 309 Great car. I'm picking up mine on 8/8 at PCD. |

This is very interesting but I guess it makes sense as looks are so subjective.
I'm deciding between a 1 or 2 and from the rear it's not even close to me the 1 series looks way better. The front view is like comparing apples to oranges, either the classic/timeless BMW look(1 series) or the the cross between a Japanese car and BMWs new design language(2 series). The 2 may win with me from the side profile but it's close. With that said I still might lease a 2 and who know's maybe in a few years I'll feel different. I can definitely see how the masses would gravitate towards the less polarizing 2 series tho. Both are amazing cars and I can't wait to be driving one of them. |

I have never driven a 1 series, but it being small would have to make it fun. I dont like the way it looks at all. Only 750 in America probably contibutes to the polarization more than anything.

EG2322, Thank you for sharing the differences in the interior! I actually like the 2-series interior better and love the extra silver on the steering wheel to brighten it up. I love how the CD now says Media. I really like the bigger knob on the idrive system and the way the screen looks. The Sport Versus Eco Pro technology is going to be fun to try. I like the two front cup holders.
I can see why you will miss the ///M on the steering wheel but the additional silver trim will make up for it. Thank you so much for sharing! |

I was only complementing his car. My apologies if it was received differently.

I really prefer the ///M steering wheel, but the standard on the new 2 is A LOT better than the previous years standard. After driving it for a bit, I really do miss the old steering feel, but hopefully I will get used to it down the road. Does anyone know what models still have the stiff steering that we all know and love from BMW? |

Wow, different strokes for different folks. I traded in a 2012 128 for my 228 Msport and one of my reasons was the FAR FAR better looking front end on the 228. No resemblance at all to a Japanese car. Side profile no contest at all. From the rear, OK the 128 wins there but overall much happier with my 228 over my 128.

It may just take me some time to warm up to it. I remember seeing the 1 series back in 2008 and thinking to myself what a perfect sized RWD BMW too bad its so ugly. Now I love the looks of the 1 thus I'm looking to purchase one. That's usually what's so great about some European(BMW, Audi, MB) designs is they grow on you and still look great after 10 and sometimes 15 years. I still love the B5 A4, e46 3 series, and some older Benzs. Congrats on your ride great choice! |

I can't wait to pick it up at the Performance Center. I hate that WG badge too. I'm happy that I'm not picking the car from them, so they won't have a chance to put it on. |

I'm still sad over leaving my e88 128i vert. I had limited choices last july 13' when my e88's lease was up. Was going to buy it but 3 months before the lease was up the car was hit by a sloppy drunk lady . Paint couldn't match 100% being light blue metallic...So on the turn in day I just opted for a F30 320i non-xdrive. Dealer had to pull it from Philly (I refused to get an xdrive car and had to have xenons)..
Long story short...No 4ers yet back in July 13'. No time to order and wait this time..so just got the 320i. The F30 style wise looks better than the E90 and I'm quite pleased with the interior design. Having an F30 is good enough for me to transition into the 2 series convertible easily. Most things are very similar. If I still had my 1 series...going from that to a 2 series would be a major change IMHO. I'm waiting for my F30 lease to be up...1 year and a half to go. I'm currently planning on ordering a 2 series Msport vert in mineral white . Hopefully the canvas top will have the moonlight metallic effect option like my 1er had.

Got some nice drive time in this weekend with the 228. I must say, it is a real pleasure to drive. Pick up is way better than the 1, and it definitely has a more comfortable ride. My 128 had the m suspension and summer tires, compared to the normal suspension and all seasons on the 228, so that may add the difference as well for driving comfort. Took another pic next to my fathers 2004 330ci to see the progression of the BMW look. Enjoy!
