Thanks for posting! Great review, British car reviewers are so much easier to listen to. Ha! I really do love EB on this car. I had EB on my '99 M-Coupe and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with EB again on the M235i.

A great review. I am not in the market for any BMW for a while, but this car does seem promising from a dynamics point of view, considering that the 435i lost a recent comparo against an outdated Audi S5 in the latest Car & Driver issue.

That guy is verbose... he just doesn't come up for air.
It really his a great looking car. I saw an eb2 m235i at my local dealer yesterday. Automatic of course and thank god... if they had one with a stick I would want to test it, and likely would want to buy it. Would really love a 4 door version.

M2 depends on how well the M235i sells and whether BMW believes the project is worth it. The 1M went over well, and there is the competition version of the M235i that could be adapted, so it is probably a go, but not for at least another year to 18 months.

I don't need an M2 but I want one! The 235i is a great machine but a tad on the soft side. The sound is good but not great, steering could be a little quicker and give you some feedback and it could be a little lighter but it is obviously a better platform than the 1 series ever could be.
The key is the longer wheelbase. It will give it better high speed stability. Having owned a 1M, it was exciting at any speed but the short wheelbase made it go sideways easily. The better aerodynamics of the 2 series will give it a better top end which hampered the 1M at high speed compared to the M3. The rear of the M2 will be better than the 1 series because it has a little more leg room for those of us that have to carry kids and most of all the better throttle response of the newer motors will make easier to drive at the limit. I don't like getting my hopes up because BMW tends to soften things up but the 2 series is a better starting point so I still want an M2. BMW, please make it but make it harder edged like the old STis, EVOs and yes, even the 1M. |

The online configuration of this car is boring. It needs wheel options, more colors (exterior and interior), HUD and LSD, at least. And yes, it needs to look more aggressive.

Never heard more stupid conclusion
what kind of sick conclusion this guy comes up to. More power has never made a BMW a worse car. The 320 HP is hardly enough to be called M anything. I think 350 HP M2 would be nice and you have to keep it in its league and keep the M4 the KING of the M cars. Since i am getting an M4

And yes...we do need a M2. I would certainly consider after my M3 lease is up.
Very difficult to go back to a non-M car after having this one.
