I believe it's a shared platform with the Mini, which have FWD and AWD variants. It may not make sense to mold two sets of floors, but it may make sense to share the drivetrain layout.

Interesting rumours at Geneva point to some US Dealers refusing to sell the Active Tourer.
But Chrysler are looking for more dealers in the States.

All comments regarding purpose, nomenclature, and looks aside, did anyone else notice the leather stitched center console and middle dash area?!?! BMW interiors, while design wise are nice, have been really terrible quality wise for a good amount of time. To see so much leather stitching in a 2 series active tourer makes me wonder if these refinements will make their way into other lower end models too.

Why would it be bad? You don't think you can sell a hot hatch over here, but you think you can market this bullshit?
People over here in the market for a minivan aren't going to buy a BMW. Not when your kids are spilling milk, crushing cheerios, and the like in the backseat...
