You can go through all kinds of optimizations regarding the risk of destroying the car on day one, but this is actually a pretty good deal.

Thats alot. $479 plus 3,000 down payment plus TAXES title and fees and bank fee!!! in NY thats about $5,700. Not worth it yet. Money factor is probably very high right now. Give it a couple months and it will be a lot cheaper.

Something else to consider when making the decision to lease: if something happens to your car and it is bother driver's fault, tens of thousands of dollars could be lost. I say this waiting for my 2014 528 to have $35k in damages fixed. The car was 9 days old and has been in the shop for more than two months. The driver was carrying the state minimum for property damage, $10,000. The car has more options selected than left off; it was more than $60k. Everything gets paid from the $10k - rental car, damage to the light pole (the city wants this but they didn't do anything to fix it) and diminished value.
The only thing that could be worse financially in this situation is if we would have bought instead of leased. BMWNA has to deal with it after the lease. |

Few people would go this route and BMW knows it. They are not the only company that does this type of deal -- check the websites. It's a legit deal, but because of all the hoops and risks, it's a teaser to most. |

Will make a lot of people happy! (although the payments aren't really as low as it seems) I think the M235i will eventually be had in the upper 400's with zero down and 10k/yr lease. Especially around the holidays when they really get nervous about targets and begin selling cars like a whaling cow scarfing down it's last meal (not sure what that really means). lol

BOOM! Welcome to BMW. At least BMW is willing to teach all these young folks coming to their brand about the switch-and-bait technique early on!
The good thing however is the 2 series is unique enough to where people will not cross shop it with a 3 or 4 series. So although the payments may approach the f30/32 territory, most will not want to make the leap over to the dark, sloppy handling and loose steering side. On the other hand, if you're shopping an f30, and you're payments hit that sweet f10 spot, most folks would want to "upgrade" to the executive level land barge. A 5 series is always more impressive to the inlaws and neighbors. |

Sign and drive baby! Don't even pay DMV fees! All rolled into the payments. I'm always impressed with myself when I drive off the lot in an expensive brand new car, without a penny out of pocket, and I'm doing my first burnout before my first payment has not even posted. Yeah baby! |

no one has ever made an argument to me that would convince me to put a single cent down on a lease....
who cares what your monthly payment is, that is just a number; monthly payments can always be manipulated by varying factors - more impt that you get the highest residual and lowest rate.... why would you ever put a chunk of cash upfront into something you will never see again (not even in a depreciated form or residual value like when you buy the car, at least you acquire an asset... depreciated asset, but still an asset)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not trying to start a war, but I assumed they'd want these 2 series pushed aggressively as it's a new line (rebadged 1, but America doesn't understand this). M235 seems like a solid deal, but the 228 isn't competitive as presented on the website. |

Only problem with the multiple security deposits, is if at any point you need to get out of your lease and transfer it to someone else, well, you're screwed. Not a whole lot of people in my experience want to pay the large sum of MSD's. |

Just spoke with my dealer on a different topic and we ran the numbers a few different ways.
If you do the $3K down, you save right around $300 total over the life of the lease. Granted I didn't NPV any of this so we're assuming $1 in 3 years is the same value as $1 today, but whatever the numbers aren't huge. In any event, risking the $3K to save $300, as others have mentioned, doesn't seem like a wise idea. Alternatively, no $ down the MSP options is $4K, roughly, and saves you $1K over the life of the lease. |
