Expected trunk space usability
Was looking at this:
...and trunk space popped into my head! What do you guys think the trunk space is like on one of these? Anyone with a 1 series have any comments on practicality/annoyances? I think my litmus test would be whether or not I could fit either an acoustic guitar hardcase or an LP hardcase ( not both ) in the trunk. I know my 3er can do it without folding down the seats. You 1series folks have an idea?

its fine for me, can fit my bike in with the front wheel off and rear seats down.
Only slight annoyance coming from a hatch is that its very deep but not very tall especially as the rear firewall is quite low, shopping etc fits in fine and it goes really far back for suitcases etc its just the height that is sometimes limiting. i would say a guitar would go in no problem, you struggle to touch the back of the seats with your hands in the e82 |

The trunk in my 1er isn't huge by any means--I am a single dude with no kids, so I don't pack a bunch of crap into it anyway.
You can get a big suitcase and a carry-on in the trunk, so I would think that your guitar case would fit. As noted above, the actual trunk "hole" is relatively small, so take that into account...

Plus the trunk "hole" on the 2er looks bigger and the car itself is a little wider, so that should help as well.

Golf bag will fit in a 135 transversely. Today's longer shafted drivers can be a squeeze so I usually take that out of the bag. With one seat folded down you travel with three golf bags and two of your buddies. Not too shabby for a small coupe.

Much obliged for the info, that's what I was looking for. I have to take my driver out of my bag in my 335, so it sounds like it will be no different in a 2.

Exact same when I had my 135. Full size Nike golf bag fit no problems, but I would have to take my driver out. Was actually all said and done a pretty accessible car. Imagine the 2 will be even better.

Anyone have any experience with putting a mountain bike in the back of the 1 series(or for anyone that has seen the 2 series trunk)?
I've been able to fit one in a 2 seater prelude with the front wheel off, but don't know how narrow the trunk entry is on the 2 series(29in wheels). I really don't want the roof rack and the danger of dropping the bike on the car, and the trunk bike rack is too much of a hassle. Ideally Id be able to shove it in the trunk with the back seats folded down. |

Yeah, I fit my 59 cm road bike and 29er (separately) in our old 1er with no issues. It was a close fit flat, but there was room to go slightly tilted if you'd needed to fit a larger bike.

Also watching that video again it looks like the boot, aka trunk , will open without any of the rear light cluster on it, is this right, think I'll go back and look at a few pics from the shows it can't be right, the part that opens then would be a very off shape, hmm. Sorry questions questions questions!

OK so in the video I can't see any kind of dividing line on the rear lights so will they open like the solid blue line with an impossible rear access shape or on the production model is there the break at the dotted blue lines like normal BMW..
