xdrive 2 series CDN market
Dealer in local vacinity showed me document highlighting coming 2 series and
Had reference to xdrive models for july and after production. 228 was 39500 and m235 was near 49000 so about 4k more than base and only as auto trans no stick. |

Well, if auto tranny is a $1.5K option on the M235i, and auto tranny is standard on the XDrive model then the XDrive feature is really only $2.5K, n'est pas?

I think they are charging 1.5k for auto and 2.5k for xdrive just rounding them together . on a side note the document notes the short throw 6 speed manual is sharedwith the upcoming m3/m4!

Forgive my ignorance if this has already been addressed, but will xdrive models be limited to Canada for North America? I've heard rumors, but is there any real proof yet that bmw intends to introduce xdrive for 2 series in US market? Might they wait a full year to introduce it to US?

Most likely the document I saw indicated that having xdrive variant, would get more potential customers to buy one. This will be in Usa market as well. I guess BMW is trying to flood their model line up with every kind of variant so as to keep/iincrease market share and hold down rivals like audi and Mercedes. Audi a3 sedan will come in quattro so BMW needs to combat with an xdrive 2er . off coursecoupe vs sedan but with xdrive variant may sway those considering the a3. Course that is just my opinion.

No facts, just my opinion that Canada on its own is too small a market to get the xDrive by itself (ie. the NA market, mainly US, will get the xDrive).
And if limited to auto tranny only, I won't get the xDrive. 6MT for me.

pretty terrible that the M235 is going to be 'xdrive'.......this car is a watered down mess! All the early reviews are suggesting it is boring/unstimulating to drive...and now Xdrive!?? hardly a FUN RWD Coupe like everyone was expecting....
hope the M2 isn't xdrive too.....LOL |

From my experiences, that sounds exactly like the F30 3-series....totally boring. i don't really care...as long as they don't screw up the M2. |

Email from BMW.ca: "In 2014, BMW is redefining the game with the release of the BMW 2 Series Coupé. This rebellious addition to the BMW lineup features unparalleled performance and an athletic design that includes a redesigned and luxurious interior. The 2 Series pays homage to its quintessential BMW sports coupé predecessors from the 1960s and 70s, and features an agile lightweight frame. BMW M235i's pièce de résistance is its 322 hp engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, with optional xDrive® and variable sport steering."

I only remember the one guy driving a 228 in Germany but no other reviews, I'd like to read them if someone can produce one for the M235.

Dubious, to say the least, I'll wait until I can make my own call by driving a M235i, not the 228.

It's really an 8 spd auto tranny. They're just using a default Canadian exchange rate.

I think there comma is there to separate the xDrive from the previous portion of the sentence.
