1-series picture has 18" wheels and doesn't have the comparable bumpers (base 135i in US). 128i non-msport bumpers with 17" rims would be a better comparison.

That's a much better comparison.
E82 looks old. I can say that as I have one currently, and it is my second 135

Oh yes this looks so vastly different with the slightly forward headlight presence over the old E82 bumper, coupled with the fact that BMW finally put the gas tank opening and door handle over the old crease of the E82 in which both openings where below this crease line..wait a minute I see a slightly lower rake to the rear windshield...not to mention the rear bumper is probably a near inch or two raked in a rearward direction taller than the old 1.
Come one...10X better maybe 1.5X. Call me whatever; I love the fact a 2er exist, but don't get crazy. |

No need to take offense, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I like the 1er better for its unique design, doesn't mean i'll talk shit about the 2.

The 128i pictured here has the M-sport package. The 228 does not.

E82 is edgier and more aggressive I think, not to say I dislike the 2 (other than the ass end) but they are very similar. To my eye the 2=smoothed out, slightly stretched 1 with an arguably nicer nose. I like how the top line of the rocker doesn't swoop up into the front fender creating the saggy look of the 1 but I don't like how the shoulder line now sinks into mid-fender. I do like how the new greenhouse is slightly shorter/squat. Its a mixed bag for me, I don't see how you like one 10X over the other but hey to each his own.

How can you say something looks 10x better than something when it looks almost identical LOL. Either way, I like the lines and the front end of the 2er more... But the rear just kills the car for me.. Maybe it'll grow on me like how the 1er did? But my next car will definitely be a 335IS, since that's the only way to get a low mileage n54 in a couple years ]: |

I think the lines look better on the 2er but it is starting to look more like a Honda Civic. No more individuality which means the 2 will probably sell twice as many cars and be more popular than the 1 if that's what you like.
That being said, I am sure I will buy the 2 once my lease expires on the 1. Too bad the 3's are now the same size as the old 5's. The 2 is now the same size as the E46 3 coupe which is plenty big.

I like the fact the sideskirt line doesn't go back up near the front... the old one looked like it was smiling from the side on light coloured models... (not noticeable on darker versions)
Pleased to see it isn't too much diff, I loved the shape of my 1 series coup. Can't wait to get my 2 |

Unique it is, I've seen some pretty nice looking 1ers (they look way better in person), but objectively it's not a looker...but who was buying that awesome little car for looks anyway?
