Coincidentally I had one here a few minutes ago. It looks great in person.

Im scratching my head, thinking the same thing. That's a lot of cars sitting in parking lots over the winter, waiting to be released in March

No. It debuts at Detroit auto show in January.

Wait, so we won't get the car until March? I was looking forward to December as it would be my Christmas present since I'm the first in line at the dealership

Also confused as others that production had started yet we do not have any information!!

Have you ever ordered a car from BMW? Just shipping from Germany to the US takes 6-8 weeks in my experience so even if they built a car today and sent it out, it wouldn't be in US dealers (at least for us on the West coast) until January. The first cars produced will go to dealers as demo cars, I wonder if those ones will start to arrive before March.

When I did order my 1M it took about 1 month from production to delivery.
Even if you add another month on top of that for other market they will still have a 2 month worth of production to store somewhere.

Pretty easy to understand the production. Assuming just in the US 500 dealers and then all the other markets they always build 2 per dealer just as show vehicles. They were building the new X5 in August yet my dealer here in SC where they are built hasn't received any. Just because they can build 720 doesn't mean they are building 720 a day that's the maximum they can build. I would hope they start the build process a little slower to work out bottlenecks or problems. I would assume the 2 per dealer will hit in time to be at dealers for the Detroit Auto Show and then the initial orders for customers start trickling in Feb.

I had told myself and others, no more white rigs, especially AW BMWs (3 in a row). I hope the blue looks good in person. Red is awful.

Perhaps "launch" just means when we will see the media blitz--maybe it doesn't have anything to do with when cars will actually show up...

I spotted a red one before in jersey, no badge. It looks good in real life.

"Ugliest car from BMW after 1 series"

Have you seen the 5 series Gran Turismo?

Even if you don't love it, I think its a pretty attractive car, no 911, but almost as pretty in my eyes as the 4 series.

I'm not a fan of the rear diffuser area, but at least it looks better than the 4 Series' diffuser. The 3-Series has, by far, the best rear end.

Agreed--weakest point of the styling to me as well. But I am assuming it will be easy enough to remedy with aftermarket...

Aftermarket diffusers seem to follow the same shape as the OEM diffuser unfortunately.
