Too bad BMW is a year or more behind getting out a compact 4 door drivers car.
True! but I feel like BMW is aiming for the coupe market whereas Benz is going after the 4 door market. Also, the AMG is about $60K whereas the M235i should be about $48K well equipped while the base CLA should be about the same price as 228 (or maybe less since its FWD). Good thing Benz came out with an AMG version hopefully BMW decides to compete in the small sports car market and come out with their own Performance model, the M2.

And yea the rear end of the CLA is so awkward to me.

Yes, real M235i caught a few months ago.

So following the trend, the new 1-series will look similar but with 4 doors ... Hmmm

To me, BMW should have done it the other way, 1,3, etc be coupes and 2,4, etc sedans, but may be it is just me!

There are rumours that the M235i will be quicker on the NS than the 1M, so a comparison should be nice; ///M235i vs E82 1M

Maybe this is possible?

Great job BMW, start making your lesser models faster & more powerful than your more expensive ones. Maybe you should learn from Porsche. Give the starter model customer something to aspire to. Huge Mistake!

Point is people were saying the same things back then. Itll look better IRL than it will in pictures. Especially when all we have are grainy photos from odd angles.

Also does 2addicts sound really weird to anyone else? 2fanatics sounds better.
OK, that's bizarre...I wasn't even a member in 2007! LOL!

Fair enough, I'll reserve any more design related comments until I see one IRL. If it doesn't do it for me when it comes out, I'll be headed towards a CPO Silverstone E92 with the Comp package... :-)

Are you positive? Z4 35is has characteristics of N54 engine - peak torque at 1500 rpm rather than 1300 rpm. This is according to BMW site.

Positives as in opening the hood and looking myself no, but the specs. on the BMW site look like N55 "3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder, 24-valve 335-hp engine. Combines a twin-scroll turbocharger with variable valve control (Double-VANOS and Valvetronic) and high-precision direct injection"

I also posted about it a few weeks ago.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=Z4+n55

Pretty sure in late 2012 production switched to N55.

I don't understand why BMW uses absolutely the turbo on the M235i
An atmospheric engine would be better

I guess they just switched with 2014MY.

To stay on topic: so it looks like all of 135is, M235i, Z4 35is use more or less the same over boosted N55 engine. Seems a bit weird that for 435i you need to pay more out of model line up to get the same level of performance.

335is uses the same engine, with slightly detuned power output, of Z4 35is and 1M, which is badged as N54T, so you are right there.

On the other hand, 135is is basically a PP model using the same N55 engine of the later model 135/335i.
Actually the 335is makes 323hp and not 335 like the z4is because of I take restrictions. It's not a detuned version.....

I'm almost certain all IS engines are N54 regardless of year.

I know for certain in the 335is they are still n54's, but I guess it's possible on the z4's this isn't the case...doesn't seem likely though that BMW would use an N55 with PPK here considering they don't make that power anyways.

Are you jelly, brah? J/k

Really, Chris Harris had said when he tested the 435i that it seemed like the M235i would be quicker and have more hp, so why the surprise. I think BMW will give the standard 435i more hp later on.

If the South Africa price is a good indicator, the starting price of M235i there is about 10% more than the starting price of a 328i sedan, so in theory it should be starting around 42-43K here in the US.
