No. 2-series cars don't get any sort of temperature gauge that works. You can code it, but it won't register anything.

Looking around, it seems this was added in the LCI update. If the OP's car is 2014-2016, it may not have this. |

Path of least resistance (and $) is an OBD dongle and OBD Fusion phone app.

OIL TEMPS can be found in the 2-Series
Easy to bring up quickly! Start car, but keep your foot off brake as to be in the menu/computer mode. Wait until car computer is at the mileage / odometer screen. Then simply hold the odometer reset button in the far left lower corner of the instrument panel and don't let go until it comes to the "unlock" screen. It will say "identification" once here, press the odometer button until it gets to the "unlock" choice. Hold it there until it gets to the screen with the 00 numbers. Once here, simply keep pressing the odometer reset button until the numbers match the last 5 of your VIN added up. Then release the odometer button. Press and hold the odometer button once again until it gets to the next menu of "unlocks". Scroll through this until you get to 14. Temperatures, I believe. Then hold odometer button until it lets you into the menu and simply keep pressing the odometer reset button to scroll to Oil Temp. You want this to be at least 85C before you drive aggressively. I prefer to wait until it gets to 105-108C.

In terms of accessing the hidden menus, they can be entered and exited at any time when the car is running (at least with my 2017 M240i). I’ve often done this at traffic lights while the car is warming up, then exited the menus after the car has reached operating temperature. I just need to hold down the odometer reset button until the top level menu appears, or when exiting holding it down until the normal display reappears (about 20 seconds).
