Dynamic Handling Package? How can I tell?
Hello, I'm in market to get my first BMW, mostly looking for 2014-2015 228i. Is there a way to tell which ones have DHP? I haven't seen a listing that says DHP and I really want DHP. I can distinguish sportline & M-sport with their wheels so I was thinking maybe these wheels represent DHP vs none DHP/sportline/m-sport wheels. Am I right on that? If not, what should I look for?
Also, are sportline/m-sport worth the extra $2000-$3000? I like the steering wheel and the seats but I can't decide if it's worth the upgrade at this point. How's the ride compared to DHP only? Thanks in advance! |

Hello I have the track package on my car. The most obvious signs of a car having this package would be the blue calipers, and comfort/sports/sports plus button by the shiftier and tires. I love my msport/track package combo. It really eye catching in person. The m sport kit adds to the lines and the track package make it a blast to drive.

Thanks for the reply jase2addict. I thought the calipers were add-on to the m-sport package. Would DHP-only car have the blue caliper too? I don't think I've seen blue caliper on a non-m sport car so far. What would be the difference in eco/sport/sport+? I've seen eco mode and sport button on every car but not sure if I've seen sport+. what does yours say?
I agree, m-sport and that blue caliper makes everything sexier |

Hey Nobe, I can't speak about the years in question. Maybe they changed some things around. But for 2017 the brakes, MPSS tires, variable steering and adaptive m suspension come with track package. I have sports plus on mine. The suspension gets tighter and the steering gets heavy.

The Sport+ driving mode setting in the cockpit is NOT an extra thing; all 2 Series cars have this. What the THP/DHP adds to this functionality is a 'Suspension' setting in the Sport/Sport+ customization menus. Also, see this thread, which is now a 2Addicts classic. You also get an extra aux radiator on the driver's side as part of the THP/DHP in most global markets.

If you're at the car, just do a VIN look up. www.bimmer.work or www.bmwvin.com.
You're going to want to see Adaptive M suspension in the list. The option code is 2VF. As for the M Brakes.. I think originally, you could add them if you added the M-Sport package with out the DHP/THP. That might have been the 1st year of production. Seeing Sport + doesn't mean anything because all Sport line and M-Sport cars have it.

You can search BMW's entire inventory, new and used, for almost every BMW for sale at every dealer. It's nice because the site describes each option and package the car has in BMW terms. Just pick out exactly the car and options you what you want and sort the matches by distance.
cpo.bmwusa.com I know the address starts with "CPO" but it has new and used. |

228i with track package doesn't have fog lights?
I think one easy way to tell is the fog lights. They're standard on the 228i, but they remove them to allow more air intake with the track handling package. Can anyone confirm that?

No, it's not. The M Sport package, which deletes fogs, can be ordered without THP. I have just such a car.

Wasn't true for 2015. I have 228i, with THP, with fog lamps.
