When you say it's stopped working:
Do you get the "no auto stop start" icon in the gauge cluster? Is the ASS off button lighting up?

I noticed a new reason for ASS to deactivate compared to my previous E82 (manual gearbox) on my new F22 (auto gearbox), non-zero angle of the steering wheel.

I do have a Stop & Start problem, but different from yours. It sometimes (from day 1) turn into a Stop, Start & Stall system. After stopping at a traffic light, when I release the break pedal, the motor restarts then shuts down immediately. My BMW garage has the car for 3 days, I hope they'll find some reason...

The Auto start on the 2 has been much smoother than it was on my F30 though, so for now I've been leaving it on.

Both cars are auto. In the F30, the slightest reduction of pressure on the brake causes the car to restart. The car is ready to go by the time I get on the gas--I would have to work hard to beat it. (Assuming I don't left food brake, which I'm not in the habit of.) The F23 doesn't restart until I completely release the brake. I almost always beat it to the gas, and get a noticeable hesitation before the car starts. This happens pretty much every time I come to a stop, and it makes the start/stop function much more annoying. (even though the 6 starts more smoothly.) Have others noticed this, or is it just me? |

My f22 reacts like your f30. Slight release of pressure on the brakes and engine will start again, and vice versa only slight pressure on the brakes won't activate stop/start only hard pressure. I'm still getting used to the stop/start function, still feels unnatural to me

I tried some more this afternoon, and I cannot make the engine start with the brake pedal short of completely releasing the brake. I wonder if this is adjustable? |

My mate's dad got a 435i and it is a little mushy. Overall, it's very similar to me.

If you aren't running the AC it could be a battery that is low on charge. If the battery charge is low it will not stop the engine. Do you do a lot of city driving, or short distance driving? If the car doesn't get a long drive to keep the battery charged enough (or if the battery is going bad) then that may be why it isn't kicking off. Your dealer may have a tough time to diagnose it if it isn't throwing any errors, they may just have to drive your car around for a while, and personally I hate knowing that my 300hp car is turning into the managers hoop-d for the evening or the 17 year old tech's vehicle to go pick up lunch orders.
