What is the M Performance LSD fluid change intervals? Is there a break-in fluid change recommendation? Thanks.

It's a lifetime fluid according to BMW, with no break-in change

I supposed, when the friction plates give out, it should then be serviced.

Usually first change 1200 then every 30k

LSD is a separate M-performance option on M235i. About $2k-2.5k I think

BMW "claims" a sealed lifetime service but I did mine @ 30k kms just because. Will do it again at 80-100k kms as well, along with the MT box.

Recently installed the MP LSD on the M240i. I changed the fluid in my old E90 open diff easy enough. Is the fluid change in the MP LSD the same or similar enough to do yourself? I've read that partial disassembly is required!

AFAIK, it's as simple as it "should" be. Drain via lower drain plug, then close the drain plug and fill via fill hole, and wait until it "overflows" ever so slightly. Put the top plug back in, whalaa?

I haven't done one on this car, yet, but I've done several on trucks and old model Audi's/BMW's and was as simple as above..

I could be way off left field, though..

There is no drain plug on the BMW diffs. On the open diffs, you remove the fill plug and withdraw as much of the fluid by suction as you can. Then fill to overflow. It'll be interesting what you or I find on this one.

As mentioned above: "lifetime" fluid. BMW says no need to change.

Just because they deem it "lifetime," it doesn't mean literally the oil can last forever.

You can always flip the car over and the fill plug becomes the drain plug

Any half-wit would know to make sure you can access the fill hole before you even attempt at a drain hole, but maybe I give people too much credit.

But yeah, the fact that BMW doesn't want you to service the car anywhere except at BMW is probably why there's so many unnecessarily complicated or missing things.

For what it's worth here's the Blackstone report from my 6MT in my 228i that had the "lifetime" BMW fluid in it for 71,321 miles. I changed it out and the diff fluid as well. No drain on the diff was a pain. If you change it out yourself make sure to be careful when you reinstall the rubber shock bumper/limiter bolt on the rear of the diff. Steel bolt/aluminum housing. I almost jacked it up and had to clean the threads up with a tap.
