I'm thinking there must be something wrong with my M235i. Its my first tank and driving 95% in Eco-Pro mode and 5% in Sport mode it shows an average of 13.6MPG. I do live in Los Angeles and my whole 8 mile (each way) commute is up and down hills and all 'light to light' but that seems extremely low. I also have all systems checked with regard to Eco-Pro efficiency settings. Anyone else in LA driving all city streets?

I drive in "fun" mode too, but interestingly enough, here up in North Scottsdale, we have straight stretches of road at 50mph speed limits... I'm getting 26.5 mpg ...

Start/stop may not improve instantaneous MPG (because you can't measure it), but it does improve average MPG.

Up to just under 25mpg now, avg, 90% highway.
I'm sure that will go down a bit for a while given that I gave the car some goodies

I did, and the calculation came to 13.7mpg. I just filled it up recently, drove a 1/4 tank (all Comfort mode), and am getting 15.4mpg so far. Thats with a very light foot. This seems incredibly low.

I got 14.5 my first tank and then it kept improving. I'm up to 19.6 avg now and 80% city in sport mode with manual transmission.

My whole drive is stop and go surface streets. Up and down hills. I guess I'll have to run a few tanks and see if the mileage improves. I'd drive it in manual/sport 100% of the time as long as I could get 16+ mpg. My previous M3 got around 12.5mpg with the same commute. EPA city estimate for that car was 14mpg. Go figure.

I have had a full commute week. I am getting about 31 mpg on my way to work and about 25 on the way back. (More city on the way back). If I can keep this up it will save me about 130 a month in gas over my last BMW.

after 1,100 miles, average mpg is 19.7 with an avg mph of 25.6. I just reset my mileage gauge in the odometer area. The Average MPG # keeps going up and up since getting the car. It's started at like 13.4 mpg on avg.

Surely you don't buy a 3 litre, 6 cylinder, twin turbo, petrol car ....and then start talking about MPG??
In the UK we pay the equivalent of $2.20 a litre ($10 a gallon) for petrol too! Just to get in on this particular action though, 325 miles Eco, 230 miles Comfort/Sport driving and having fun. My take on this, unless it's nose to tail or you're in a built up area don't sit in Eco all your lives, think of the amount of money you've spent on a car you now drive like Miss Daisy! |
