Nope, seems like the same material and shade as the seat back/side area. Gets a bit closer forward with more adjustability back, which allows enough room for me to sit comfortably in my preferred position with a helmet on. Otherwise I'd just have to tilt the seat back a bit, but this compromise was cheap enough to justify the utility, imo

Oil and change at home (BMW 5W30 oil). It's the first one I have done and it was easy peasy, except oil came in individual liter bottles instead of the big 5 quart bottle, so I had to take the collection container to the recycling center instead of a sealed 5 quart bottle. I plan to change every 5K miles + or - . Next oil change will be on BMW. Also washed off a couple weeks or road grime. Looks good - hopefully we have several nice days in a row to enjoy a clean car. Also washed my wife's Q5 - she likes a clean car - hey, its mothers day and as they say, "happy wife - happy life".

Got up real early and hit my favorite mountain route, then a new one, 400 miles overall and almost totally deserted. With a short break for the Saratoga Auto Museum Cars and Coffee mid-route (my first C&C ever - not bad, but the lone Mustang kept it on the pavement the whole time).
One of the best things was that I had slow cars actually pulling aside and giving me a wave by - FOUR TIMES - probably more than the whole rest of my life combined. Just super cool (and I wasn't hassling them right off their bumper - it was clearly just a cool move on their part, as if they could tell how much more fun it was for me to be able to go at my own speed). I think this may actually be subtly improving my general world view, but I don't want to go all sappy sentimental. |

Filled up with gas yesterday to check the mileage on my experiment in using the Eco Pro mode exclusively to see if it improved gas mileage. Granted it wasn't a well controlled scientific experiment, but I had no significant difference. Back to Comfort mode with a mix of Sport.

22.5 is what I am averaging too. So much of my time behind the wheel is commuting in stop and go traffic so there isn't much opportunity to use Sport, much less Sport +. I am guessing the various modes might effect mileage more in those with the AT, but not so much with MT. I do find my mileage drops a bit when I wind it out more frequently to 5500-6000 before changing gears.

Collected my sand-blasted and powder-coated original tail pipes
[ GB£50 all-in for the sandblast cleaning then powder-coating in gloss black, inside and out, by a small local outfit. Sorry no photos of the original but they were fairly badly corroded after just nine months and a British winter plus a couple of ski trips to the Alps. Quite a few posts suggest to sandblast/powdercoat wheels, as well as exhaust tips e.g. to refurbish after damage, provide better coating, or just to personalise the colouring. If this is typical then the powder coating is much thicker than the original paint. So I'm inclined to believe it will be an improvement - time will tell......
