I can't speak for the RaceChip cables, but the AA8 harness seemed to be made of automotive-grade wires in semi-rigid plastic sheathing that looked very similar to the sort already around the engine bay. Part of the AA8 harness I ran around the front of the engine (from the right side) to the airbox and camshaft connections, and the sheathing ended up under the big plastic cover, but I wouldn't say any of it was super-close to any hot metal parts (no hotter than anywhere else under there). The only part of the engine that gets super-hot is the exhaust/turbo/downpipe area, and although part of the AA8 harness is certainly routed above that area, it's quite some way above, and certainly not the only cables there. The rest of the metal surely maxes out at ~250F (oil/coolant temperature). That's nothing for the proper grade of cable, which all these devices claim to use. As long as the cable isn't directly touching (unsheathed) a hot metal part, I'm sure you can sleep easy. |

Hey what's up guys. I just purchased a race chip ultimate from someone who owns an f30 335i. I should be getting it in the mail next week. I could not find anything on race chip ultimate on an f30 335i. Since I'm buying used I don't know what the stock setting would be at since the manufacturer sets it before shipping it out correct? Since there's more info on here from those who have used it can you guys help guide me in this endeavor. I got the race chip ultimate pretty cheap and it seems to be newer model. Can someone explain the settings I don't understand them from the videos. Also I'm running intake and exhaust. Would that be a problem? Well I'll come back with more updates once I get it. Thanks in advance.

Just to let you guys know my thoughts for my Racechip Ultimate.
2014 335i With Afe intake High flow catted DP 200cpi wagner tuning Supersprint full catback exhaust ER chargepipe Racechip Ultimate setting on 4!!!! Been on it for >1 year Using 98 Shell Vpower fuel (RON 98) No issues to date. Pulls like a freakin Mofo!!! Took out the RC yesterday to take the car in for a service, and it was slow as hell especially mid range pull. After service, took car home, re-installed the RC on the same setting "4", and it was like the car got a steroid injection. Forget the hp increase guys, it's the torque increase that is staggering. |

OK guys - so at the factory setting, it actually does produce some gains - but it's only measurable at some really high load. The screen grab below shows my Dash Command screen right after I released the gas pedal when the fuel was cut-off at 255 km/h. Ambient conditions: 30C, 1000 hPa. Fuel: 98 RON. The max boost was at 12 psi; max Power - 386 ps; max Torque - 533 Nm.
Interestingly, my max speed as reported by GPS was as high as 263 km/h; is it possible that the speedometer in my car is under-rating the real speed? Or can you explain it by some known errors to GPS readings?

I'd take outputs and GPS via apps with a pinch of salt. Dynos and vbox are way more reliable truthful. What are you guys seeing in terms of rolling acceleration times say for 100-200 kph ?

Hey what's up guys, so I installed it tonight and did some test runs and boy does it pull hard. Very smooth, at first I was like no difference I did some hard launches and freeway runs total different car. Anyone know how to change settings the instructions don't say much. Where it's at right now actually seems like good power for me.

Yes of course - I am taking all this with a big pinch of salt. In particular, the Power and Torque values reported by DashCommand are very sensitive to one particular value in the Advanced Settings of the vehicle: the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC); its default value for turbo-petrol engines is 0.55.
However, I'm trying not so much to "measure" the real (absolute) Power of my car, but the gains I'm getting at various Racechip settings - therefore, in the very same conditions and before even installing the RaceChip, I adjusted the BSFC in DashCommand with multiple test runs so that Dashcommand reports those values as close to the Factory rating as possible. It turned out that for my specific car to report 320 hp (327 PS) and 450 Nm (average max values over some 10 test runs), the BSFC needs to be set at 0.523. Using this BSFC value, I'm getting figures I posted with the default setting of my Racechip (which it was shipped to me with). I gues that for relative (as opposed to absolute) measurements, this is as good a method is it can get. Regarding GPS: due to the very poor accuracy of mobile phones GPS receivers (only reading data once per second at best) - during my test I'm using an external GPS (I have the Dual Skypro GPS Receiver - XGPS160, reading GPS data 10 times per second). So it's very interesting to still see figures like that... Piotr

i have set the car to setting f to try for couple of weeks, on e and f the pull is very strong, last night took car out and came back thinking jeezz the thing is dam fast now. I am going to go to Surrey rolling road to get another test done on setting f and standard. On f there does seem to be a bit more punch again..so wouldnt be surprised if it was around 385bhp flywheel, but ill get a bhp at wheels RR read out this month and let you know.

I plan to remove the racechip prior to servicing at the dealership.
It is currently set at D1 which I gradually built up to one gas tank at a time. I assume that I can simply remove the racechip and reconnect the factory wiring harnesses? Is there any need to gradually go back to B1 one gas tank at a time prior to removing? Similar questions after servicing. When I reinstall the racechip, do I need to cycle through starting at B1, C1, prior to going to D1? Thanks in advance! |

RaceChip Ultimate and P3 Vent gauge?
Does anyone know if the RaceChip in combination with a P3 Vent gauge (OBDII) version would cause issues?
I ask because it seems to be causing issues for JB4 but wasn't sure if the simplicity of the RaceChip would be affected as well? Thanks in advance to anyone that knows this answer! |

No it does not. I would imagine that this is what caused the issue for jb4 users.
