Hey all,
I'm receiving my staggered setup of VMR V703's in Gunmetal wrapped in Michelin PS4S for my M235i this week. This is the setup: Front: 18x8.5 (225/40/18 XL) Rear: 18x9.5 (255/35/18 XL) I'm completely stumped on what tire pressures to go with. I do not plan to track the car, but am certainly a spirited driver that enjoys some speed on a daily basis (and the occasional mountain runs). I live in MA with average temperatures around 70 degrees in the current climate. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mark |

I settled on 35 F&R, both for staggered all-seasons and for 255 square summers.

I've been seeing many users running the same pressure in the front and rear on staggered setups. I know BMW recommends 33F and 38R from factory on the stock wheel/tire configuration. Isn't the extra pressure in the rear essential as it reduces under steer?

My car is corner-balanced with a stiffer suspension and significant negative camber front and rear. Even with the staggered all-season tire setup, understeer is rarely noticeable at the speeds I drive on the street.

If you're not running the OEM tire size(s) for front/rear and not quite sure what to do, I would use this calculator (https://tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/) to see what the tire pressure should be to match the vehicle's original tire load capacity, then adjust slightly from there, if desired.
I often run a little bit wider tire than OEM on all my vehicles (typically on a wider wheel as well) and often have to drop the tire pressure a bit. One time I didn't adjust accordingly and I think I caused premature tire wear in the center and also created an unnecessarily stiff ride. Example with my 240 - it came with 18x7.5 225/40/18 square (33 psi front / 41 rear). I put some 235/40/18 Pilot Sport 4S on (with an 18x8.5 wheel) and when recalculating my new pressure based on load rating, they came back at 30 psi front / 37 rear, and the car feels great. I played around with the front pressure a little bit but ultimately went back to the recommended 30 psi.
