53k Transmission & R. Diff fluid replacement
First time poster, long time lurker here. I have a CPO m240xi at ~53k miles. From the ultimate maintenance guide, I see that its highly recommended to replace transmission & diff fluid at 50k.
I just called my local bmw dealership in nj for a quote, and he came back at 2450 (!!!) including labor. From what I've seen, this is 2-3x more than what people generally say this maintenance should cost (800-1.2k). I have an indy shop near me that's fairly reputable (works on mclarens, porsche, M, AMG, etc) that I'm going to get a quote from when they take a look at the car. I have two questions: -has anyone had issues AFTER they got their transmission & diff fluid replaced, and if I have drivetrain issues afterwards, would getting this done at a 3rd party void my CPO drivetrain? -how much approximately did you pay for this service, if you've gotten it either at a dealership or indy? Thanks! |

Holy shit, diff flush I have been quoted mostly less than $200 by Indy.
The transmission fluid and filter and pan.. Thats roughly mayb $300 parts and maybe another $300 labor.. Plenty of video online too and doesn't look too hard. $2500 is definitely daylight robbery.. |

You didn't say if it was a 6MT or Auto - makes a big difference. Looks like you have x Drive so there are two diffs, a transfer case and auto trans. Lots of $$$.

OP - I see you are in NJ. I got my 6MT transmission fluid changed at Park Ave BMW in 2019 for $345 out the door. They had me sign a waiver as they said the fluid was "lifetime". I laughed. 50k is a suitable interval.
