similar in size and weight of a miata and arguably a lot prettier than one of that same time period. Im considering one as my next bottomless moneypit. |

and on an unrelated note, this crack was just mean, " I am not even talking about more money than sense here (though one can make that argument), but it does relate to a taste issue that you mentioned. " and my tastless little 228 will be glad to show off its superiority to any miata (I cross shopped both a c and d-version - great purpose built sports cars, but I wanted a GT). |

Also, thank you for the write up. I will actually do jjst that. Get Hakki 9s and throw black primer on them... doesn't it rub off though? |

I was only half serious about the primer (but in theory it would probably work ok for a season). The real tell with these is the noise - coming up to a stop light or at low speeds it is unmistakable - like driving on crushed gravel, or bear claws scratching concrete. I actually kind of liked it, but I'm a geek for aggressive sounding performance bits if they really add something. If you are thinking they will give you serious legal crap about them then the unstudded ones would also be a great choice - it is a very good slush/snow pattern that looks to me like it would work better than the xice or blizzaks.

I didn't quite get to the rewarding part yet though -- the original 30-year old engine threw a bearing after only a few times out. So, naturally we decided to move up a class and swap in a slightly more ambitious one, with 200 bhp -- should make it a solid ST5 car in NASA. Just fired it up for the first time last night, so pretty excited to see it back running! |

I feel you on the spare parts, I race a shitbox in the 24 hours of lemons. My car has a pretty weak transmission that's also kinda rare. I dread the day it starts acting up...because I will never find another one. |
