Help me Welcome my Mineral Grey M235i with Oyster Leather and Fineline Trim
I'm aware that neither Fineline Stream wood trim nor Oyster Dakota leather is very popular around here, but I'm loving the combination paired with a Mineral Grey exterior. Please help me welcome my new baby. The first three days have been a blast. Thanks to all of you who provided information and commentary to help occupy my time as she sailed across the ocean.

You'd be surprised. I used to have cream beige in my 335i (very similar to oyster), and it isn't as difficult to keep clean as you might think. Now granted I had no kids sitting in the back seats kicking everything in sight. A good quality leather cleaner keeps things pretty good, and BTW OP definitely get yourself a set of all black rubber BMW floor mats (they look much better than the oyster cloth ones, and keep things much cleaner looking). Over 4 years, no doubt the driver's seat will show some wear and darkening but not that much. That being said, I'd never get a light interior again purely for aesthetic reasons. Now I'm not advocating black on black either - that's boring and a bat cave.

The oyster and wood look really good with the MG. Congrats. I really like oyster but afraid to get it due to likely getting a new dog soon.

I also ordered MG with the wood trim and think it looks really nice on that. I wasn't brave enough for oyster due to the occasional coffee spill and muddy shoes so I went with black! Thanks for the high quality photos and enjoy.

Yeah, the mats are my only reservation with the oyster. I don't mind having to spend a little time with the leather every week to keep it looking pristine, but I don't want to have to think about the bottom of my shoes every time I step into the car. I'm going to shop around for some replacement mats.

Thanks! 25% ceramic tint all around. That's the legal limit here for the driver and passenger windows. It can be a lot darker in the back, but I like a consistent look throughout.

The wheels look great in your pics - that contrast is awesome.

Nice car, IMO oyster leather looks mighty elegant, i can see that you have the snap in for the iphone 5, do you have the serial number of that part?, i ask my dealership here and he told me it wasn't available for the 235 just yet and he wouldn't sell me the snap in for other model since he said that it wouldn't work on the 235.

Nice looking car Rumpel!
As others have said, the light interior just doesn't work for my lifestyle but that fineline wood trim looks great with the oyster and the MG. Nice work! |

For those of you waffling because of the price, I recommend you bite the bullet and go for it. The phone sound quality is the best I've heard in a car (especially for those on the other end of the call) and the Connected Drive features, primarily Pandora in my experience, sound great even though the UI is a bit cumbersome. It's much better than Bluetooth because the phone signal source is the car's antenna, not the phone's, plus the phone battery is charged while sitting in the cradle. Some quick caveats: * I have grandfathered unlimited data on my iPhone. I don't know if Pandora data usage is an issue for people with limited plans, or even if Pandora uses an excessive amount of data. * I have the tech package. I don't know if that is required to enable anything that I described. * The somewhat cumbersome UI that I described may be because I don't know the best way to access Pandora. (I know there are several ways to achieve the same things.) I'll post the question in the techie thread when I have a few minutes to remember all my steps. |
