Side Mirror Color
Curious on what the consensus is on the M235i's side mirrors in the USA spec vs Euro? What do you think of them?

I really prefer body color over the M235 dull grey side mirrors.
I would either upgrade to carbon fiber covers (only on certain colors and assuming I could add a CF rear diffuser) ... Or price out having the greys painted body color. Let's put it another way... No way the M2 would come with those grey mirrors. Bleh |

Honestly, from what I've seen in pictures, they're kind of growing on me. I've only seen a 235 once in person and I didn't even notice the mirrors since I was much more concerned with driving it.
Mine will be here in 4-6 weeks so I'll give you an updated opinion then. |

Could always wrap them or just buy new mirror caps, or go for cf

I don't mind them on certain colors, just hate that a) seems a rip off the Audi S series and more importantly b) they don't match the grey painted wheels. I want a white M235i so I will probably leave the mirrors alone, as I think the color combo looks good. I don't think the wheels will stay though.

I'll be changing mine with either a wrap or a glossy plati dip in black. At least then I can see how it looks and decide if I want them permanently painted or if the coating is good enough.

I'm not a big fan of the ferric grey side-upper-mirror caps. No doubt BMW was trying to emulate Audi's brushed aluminum look or whatever it is, but cheaped-out by using paint instead of real metal. Thankfully BMW abandoned the ferric grey front fascia inserts for North America, but now the mirrors don't really go with anything. They look OK on certain colours (perhaps MG, whites & MR), and aren't the end of the world. That being said, if BMW leasing will permit, I may plasti-wrap them in body colour, along w those dreaded rear reflectors.

Do you mean the little fins on the inside of the front bumper where the fog lights would go on the other cars?
I'm going to see if I can plasti dip them as well to get rid of the grey as I think they are molded into the grilles, although I may see how easy it is to import a set from the US where the fins aren't in place. I think they look a little silly imo. |

I don't mind them in theory, but with the chrome on the grille, ferric grey mirrors, black trim and wheels a fourth color there's just a LOT going on. Dealer is installing black grilles for me and debadging, the mirrors will either get black vinyl wrapped or if I can find a 228 MG guy willing to swap might go that route. If anyone is interested, especially in Chicago or Philadelphia, please PM me.

I agree they look really cheap, i prefered the black ones on my 335is ... But with that said i don't think they look that bad on MG which is what i ordered. However, i am getting rid of the chrome grill ... Again prefered the black on the 335is .... And disappointed didn't go with a nice diffuser like (again) on the 335is
However, it's only cosmetics. The real important bits they got spot on imo |

Don't worry about it - here in North America, you don't get them.

It would be nice if you could choose body color, that's for sure. I know Audi allows that as an option in some regions (not US), no idea if BMW does the same. Seems like the mirror housing would be a pain in the butt to change out after the fact.
