F23 Decklid Spoiler

F23 owners, have you installed a deck lid spoiler? What did you go with and are you happy with it?

Yes, I did. I went with OEM M2 lip spoiler color matched. I'm happy with it as IMO, the back end of F23 is kinda plain.

Mine came with a black one. Its...ok. I would like something a bit more style, or none at all honestly.

I bought a carbon fiber one off Ebay, the fitment is same for a F23 (Convertible) and the coupe. $130. I like the CF Charcoal gray, as its ties in the Char conv gray top, mirrior caps and the lower bumper valance.

I would agree with the back end being plain. I'm thinking to go black against my white paint though.

I like the black against the white paint, it's what I'm thinking for mine.

I was looking at a carbon fiber one on ebay but I think the one I was looking at might have been a little taller than yours. Do you have a link for the one you bought? Also, was yours the double sided tape attachment, how is that working out?

Here you go for the link
https://www.ebay.com/itm/284023410064

It may be about 1/4' wider/taller than the OEM, but not sure. It came with 3M double sided tape already on the bottom, just had to pull off the red film and apply. Make sure you clean surface area with with 70% Alcohol...

I have often wondered why the F23 does not come with the small body-colored Gurney flap that the F22 has, which I love for its discreetness. Could there have been some concern about the exhaust being deflected back into the open cabin?

I, too would like one for aesthetics, I suspect it has more to do with affecting cockpit turbulence when the top is down. And occasionally I carry someone in the backseat.

I have a small body color one from factory I don’t mind, been playing with the idea myself. If I was going to get one, I would get a PSM designed carbon fiber one from kies motorsports.

It's likely due to the placement of the center break light which was moved from the location behind the rear window on the F22 to the trunk lid on the F23, but as FastisFun shows, it can still work.

Another less likely explanation is that it only offers a benefit during high performance driving and BMW realizes that most people with convertibles aren't going to be tracking them, so they opted to leave the part off. (Somehow I doubt this is the reason though)

If my car was white, I'd pbly go with black spoiler. My car is black so I went with black on black, instead of white spoiler on black car....not all contrast works imho lol

The F23 also has the GPS antenae on the trunk and not roof, so attaching something larger there also may contribute to sensative wiring / deck lid stuff.

All in all, its for esthetic reasons only in my perspective. Does it hurt? Probably not, but no amount of aero will make the F23 a track weapon in my opinion, thats the purpose of the coupe.

Yep, just looking at it to change the appearance a little. Have had the car 4 years now and looking to give it a little something different.

I see you're in edina, not far from the fargo land. Awesome to see another 235 *edit, maybe 228* vert in white.

Any....spoilers on your spoiler install? Good? Bad? In Transit? Maybe next summer??

Yes, 228i. Not too far from Fargo. I haven't really spent much time looking at decklid spoilers as of late, I've had a few other things come along that have distracted me. I imagine it will creep up my list again, perhaps a winter project.
