2015 235i vs 240
I have a deposit on a 2015 235 Alpine White w/ Coral red, auto. 19k miles no HK. Drove it for over an hr. love it. The final price is $38999.
Would it be worth spending another 5K on a 240? |

Have you drove both? Give the 240 a whirl if you haven't.
Also to keep price down and more competitive evaluate if there are options on the 235 that you wouldn't really want/use and don't add that to your potential 240 build. Either way, good luck! |

Love to but that's way over my budget. Don't really want to buy new.

Might be heresy for the 'bigger is better' crowd, but have you considered cross shopping a new 230? If your budget is capping at around 40K, you'll probably put a premium on the extra 2+ years of trouble-free warranty time that a new car provides, and I found that my 228 had plenty of power for my needs (and much better handling balance). My thinking is that if I later decide I really need that extra HP, I can drop a few hundred on a Dinan kit, or a couple grand on the full tune pckg. Cars that are traded back in after a couple years don't live very good lives, so they can be a real gamble as they start to hit the 50-60K mark and come off warranty, especially when you aren't the guy that the dealership thinks of as 'their customer'.
Or, from another angle, that seems like a pretty high price for a car with such a personalized color scheme (I know our forum has many who love the coral leather, but this seems like an acquired taste - I suspect it will sit on the lot for a while this way), and perhaps odd options (no HK has me wondering what else they did not add). You could try to drive the price down a bit if you are really hooked. At least make them extend the warranty out to 48mo or more. |

That seems high for a 2015 and it does not include maintenance. You may be better off finding a 2014 where you would get the maintence included CPO would be ideal. The in service dates for the 2014 wouldn't be much different than an early 2015 anyway maybe a couple of months.

My 2015 carried over the maintenance plan, warranty etc. Then with CPO it brought me to 5 years of total warranty, or 160k km, whichever comes first. Definitely some great value there, along with it being just under 15k kms, it was virtually a new car. I did get a bit lucky finding a 1 year old CPO M235i 6MT, Performance Edition, but either way, I'd still be all over a 1 year off lease CPO car, from BMW. Great value!

I bought it tonight anyway. Maybe not the best deal, but I have bought from this dealer who is local and have had good luck. I know I got stuck on the Coral int. because I think it looks good and is different than black. I test drove the car for about a hr. and loved it.
This will be my 1st BMW purchase. Have owned GTI's and TDI's. |

OP, congrats on the purchase!
Did you ask them about CPO warranty? If that's something you're interested in, I believe it can be purchased up until the end date of the factory warranty.

15' AW & Coral --- YES
I have the same color combo and it is great. All waxed up - the AW does not look as good as a dark color but the Coral Red is really inviting.
. . I have owned mine for less than 6 months but there has not been a day that I drive it and didn't think to myself how much I love this car. . Enjoy. |
