Armrest USB upgrade
Has anyone attempted at this?
I'm using wireless CarPlay, but using the armrest USB port for charging my iPhone as it's the only USB port my car has, and because it's cleaner and the cable is out of the way. The port is only supplying 0.5mAh, which is very frustrating. I know I can use the cigarette lighter port with an adapter, but I tend to keep my cupholders closed so I don't want to keep having something connected there. I tried to search online but couldn't find any information on people upgrading these -- is it possible to retrofit a newer USB hub, or somehow convert the output to be stronger? |

I installed another USB port in the arm rest to charge my digital player. I bought a 12VDC to 5VDC converter and installed it under the armrest. It's powered by the rear cigarette lighter socket.
