Negative on any reflection.
The only issue...during the first week that I had the car, I parked it outdoors with some direct sunlight into the interior..for several hours. When I returned the aluminum was FREAKING HOT...man, it felt like it had been on a stove or something. Anyways, since I tinted the windows...no problems

No regrets at all.
In winter, the Aluminium does get a bit too cold, but that hasn't made me regret having it at all. It's getting warmer in this part of the globe now, so I use the aircon fairly often... when the aircon is on, it keeps the Aluminium nice and cold.... this lasts a fairly long time after switching the engine and aircon off, even if the car is in the sun . I like it I like it

You probably get just as much glare from the wood trim. The wood is so highly polished that I have had the sun hit it and blind me a few times.

AL Trim
I almost burned my hand off on the gear shifter after parking in the S FL sun for a few hours. Looks great and I park indoors most of the time so I like it overall,

ok, upon closer inspection, my Aluminum trim is bulging out. It is really starting to bother me because it is protruding out and it's hard not to notice. I know I didn't dent it because there would be a dent mark.
Is there a way to have the dealer replace it and have it covered under warranty as a manufacturer defect? |

Here is my bulging Aluminum trim...I guess it was there the day I picked it up. Anyways, I'm getting it replaced next Friday - and I get an X3 as a loaner car.

ALUMINUM FOIL TRIM?
I have aluminum trim in my M5 and I regret it every day. It looks cheap. I don't even know why they offer the aluminum trim anyways. It's not sexy. I use aluminum to cover my food before it goes in the freezer. It's hot in the summer. Straight up, I think they offer it for the industrial boner look. And then they get to laugh straight to the bank every time someone opts for the alum. trim over the burled walnut trim or the maple trim.

The wood is fairly cheap too. I had a few pieces replaced in my former 330Ci. More recently...the wood Cd door was replaced on the X5. The back side is thick metal with a very, very thin piece of wood over the top of it. |

The only complain I have on the aluminimum trim is that the dust will be very distinct on them, heh. You gotta clean it frequently.
As for wood trim, the option is no longer available when I order my car two months ago.

Please let me know how that aluminum replacement goes next week. I have a similar bulge problem but it is not as prominent as yours. I was thinking of having mine replaced also but was not sure if it was worth the hassle and possible additional problems.

I see that's no alternative not to choose aluminium as iDrive and a.trim are the only items make E90 interior look modern. I love wood trim but not with BMW 's present dull interiors. I salute to E90 owners who can live with BMW wood trim interior. My ex Z3 2.2 USA sports edition has a big piece of a.trim right in front and I must say it had lovely reflections under the sun when top is opened! Personally, I always prefer wood if they go well with the rest of the deisgn.

Also, to those of you who said Al looks cheap - I'll tell you that it blends in much better with the gear shift knob, the vent controls, the door handles, etc. |

I don't have any problems with my aluminum trim. And unless you're really uncoordinated, you shouldn't have a problem scratching it. I do have a problem right now and I know you guys probably don't want to read this, but I'm on my laptop sitting on the toilet... with no toilet paper
