Intermittent wipers too fast

I always set them for the longest delay and occasionally they are ok for a little while, then they start to speed up. There is an on/off reset sequence that makes a little difference but it doesn't last. There must be a sensor somewhere that informs the computer but this is not worth a major expense. I'd just like to have the intelligence deleted and leave the delay setting in my hands.

Can you share this reset sequence, please?
I'd imagine you can change some parameters with one of the coding tools/INPA/ISTA but that is above my skill set!

I don't have an answer to your question but I'll be watching the thread. I agree the "smart" rain sensing delay very inconsistent and all around pretty dismal.

Ditto. My vehicle has rain-sensing (camera-driven) wipers, which I find to be pretty much useless. The sensor is way to sensitive, and has a panic-attack at the least bit of moisture on the wind screen. I manually choose speed 1 or 2 when I want them running, and can't use the intermittent settings as they are all too aggressive.

I'd love to find a way to disable the sensor-driven interval, and have the dial on the stalk directly set the delay like it was 1999.

Did you ever had your windshield replaced with an aftermarket OEM that is not the BMW Solar tint original if so equipped from factory?

From my experience, this maybe the cause of the problem. This may also affect the signal from Connected Drive if your subscription is active.

Mine works very well and does a great delay for misting as well as full speed in a heavy down pour. I never have to touch the controls.

No, I've had the car since new and it is original. The adaptive wipers on my last BMW were not very good either so I don't think this is unusual.

So it looks like BMW made a change in 2020.

Think I found the sequence in the owners manual, but since it is pretty much useless why bother to go there.

I agree. Mine work pretty flawlessly and it's one of my favorite features on the car. It seems primitive when I drive our Jeep and have to fiddle with the wiper speed constantly.
