You need a drain plug gasket which comes with oil filter sold at BMW dealer.
And you need a large enough socket to loosen the oil filter cover cap. And you just need a piece of semi rigid plastic to funnel the oil from the drain plug pass the under body panel into the drain pan - you'll see what I mean when you get under the car - but you don't really even need that. And if you lift the car many ramps will scrape the M package front air dam, and if you lift from the sill a plastic or special pad adapter so you don't chew up the rubber sill lifting pad. |

Consider getting a magnetic drain plug the first time you do it. I haven't done one yet, but I'm coming up on 6k miles. Considering doing one. I already had the dealer do one for me after break-in though, so idk if I need another before my scheduled one.
I've done some searches and the most detailed one I can find is for a M4. Does anyone have a pic of which plug to loosen? Aren't there two plugs behind that door? I have a 6MT.
