I got into my 2017 m240i today to go to work, put my car in drive and as I was holding the brakes, the car starting making a loud grinding/rattling sound. This only occurs when the car is in drive and is at a complete stop. The sound doesn’t occur in reverse or in park. If anyone has any idea what is causing this, it would be much appreciated as I have to take this car to chicago next week. Thank you.

I figured out what the issue is. My downpipe was loose connecting to the exhaust because the hanger came loose right past the downpipe. It was vibrating my whole exhaust making the loudest sound. Problem fixed 👍🏻

Yeah that would have shown up in a code for sure.
