I completely agree they're diluting the "M" name (although I love the car), and personally I love that my car is a 335is and not an M335i. It's understated and conveys what it is, I know it's not an M, but it's what a fun BMW should be. I agree--I am not sure why they didn't do this from the get go...they had already established the naming convention with the 335/135is models (perhaps there are historical references of which I am not aware??), and the M_35 came after.

Seems a little weird to me...unless the whole point was to be able to charge closer to ///M $$$ for less than ///M performance...
