OP, you might want to be aware that the state of New Jersey requires dealers to provide a minimal warranty upon the sale of a used car. Do a search and you will see the details. Of course on a practical basis this is probably not going to help you because you are four hours away. and it sounds like you will be covered under the extended factory warranty for this issue anyway.
BTW, who was the dealer?
