If your M235 has stock wheels, they are 7.5" in the front and 8.0" in the back. There are no 8.5" OEM wheels for the M235/240.

OEM staggered tires on M235/M240 x-drive and RWD is 225/40r18 and 245/35r18 so you're fine.

If you're running aftermarket wheels that are 8.5" wide, you "might" be able to run a 245/35R18 in the front assuming the offset is correct or you address it with camber correction parts and/or wheel spacers.

Running a 225/40R18 on a 8.5" wide rim is fine. It's a little stretched but is within the recommended wheel width range of 7.5" to 9.0".
