There is a legitimate use for them. Personally I hate them, and would never run them, but I can tell you why, my girlfriend for instance, uses them, and I am glad she does. If you get a flat at night time, being a woman by yourself can be pretty scary at times, its happened to her before, there are a lot of creeps out there.
Especially if its not in a well lit area. At least if you have a run flat, you can get to a safe space. Obviously this benefits men and women, but I would imagine it would be also a decent thing if you got a teenager driving around your car etc. provides them a chance at least to get somewhere safe or well lit.
But having said that PSS or PS4S all the way.
