From what I could gather, the general gist of things was that the factory (or dealer prep) often doesn't fully fill the engine, which is very convoluted and needs vacuume fill or similar. So after a while, the air bubbles work out, and you need to top off ONCE. Pretty much every other type of ongoing loss is linked to something ranging from expensive to 'Don't Ask' (leaking hoses, sucked thru turbo or intercooler, or bad head gasket are most common?). I'd say that if you have an ongoing issue that the dealership keeps playing off, you would do well to have some of the fluid analyzed privately, to be sure you aren't seeing signs of oil/water contamination that would be a head gasket (start w/ your oil - I think water in the oil is worse than oil in the coolant). It does sound like it would be very easy to have a dealership get lazy and not refill properly, though, so always a chance it is really not a big deal.
