Finally, installed after learning how to generate the new code. Special thanks to Zipphreak for helping me get this done.
Steps that were successful for me.
- Used my ESYS cable and coding software to generate the vehicle FSC file (see steps in OP first post)
- Run output file from step 1 without any changes on 64-bit software, NBT.exe (My coding laptop was running 32-bit so I had to use my home computer for this step), i.e. nbt.exe DE.fsc 0xA8 0x06 <7DIGITVIN>
- Downloaded the 2015-1 software via Internet
- Copied new map to 32GB thumb drive
- Insert thumb drive in car USB while car is powered on
- Software load begins automatically
- Enter new NBT generated code using iDrive input (be sure to hit OK when done input)
- Software took about 40 minutes to load
