No, you don't need to drain the entire system but I do suggest you carry out the bleeding process outlined below. The system is going to make a lot bubbling and gurgling sounds, as it purges air, then you just tighten back the bleeder screw afterwards.

To remove the hose, there is a pin that holds the line connector in place. You would need a pick or a small flathead screwdriver to lift the pin, then simple just tug on end of connector and it will come right out. The new hose connector locks back in by pushing pin back downwards.

Coolant Bleeding Process:

1. Remove the bleeding screw (black screw) from the overflow tank
2. Using 50/50 BMW Blue Coolant/Distilled Water fill the overflow tank slowly until the coolant starts to escape from the bleeding hole at the overflow tank
3. Re-attach the bleeding screw
4. Replace the overflow tank cap
5. start the ignition on the car, without starting the engine
6. select the hottest temp on the a/c unit
7. select the lowest fan speed on the a/c unit
8. push the accelerator down to the floor for 10 seconds
9. you'll start hearing that the water pump starts working, it's bleeding the coolant system for you
10. Wait for 12-13 minutes until the water pump completes the bleeding cycle
