That's what I was afraid of with the Avin system. I looked at the Bimmer-Tech solution and it looks IDENTICAL to the unit I purchased, except my unit supports wireless AA and Carplay. I didn't think that it was worth the extra cost (I paid around $300 on eBay, though it can be found for less).

No weirdness, and, upon further testing, no more stutters with the new firmware.
