HOW MUCH OIL DID YOU ADD?

Before you even think about getting concerned, have an oil change - new filter proper BMW oil.

Then mention to service department at visit to note down your needing to add oil and at the mileage.
Why would you need an oil change because of this?

Oil consumption is not uncommon, especially on a new car.

In order to get an accurate reading you should always check the oil on level ground with the engine fully warmed up. The best would probably be in your parking spot after you get home.

If you check the oil while driving it could fluctuate and give you different readings.

If the e dipstick reads 1/2, 3/4 qt empty you don't need to add any oil, just wait for the add 1qt oil warning. That is the simplest and easiest way.
