Yea, I applaud them too. I tried it, lost a ton of money over 10 years/5 new cars doing this and now a proud owner of two vehicles (with no payments). One serves as DD/runner/furniture hauler, the other is pure joy. When you're no longer making payments on your car, and actually own it, you'll look at it differently. It's like that feeling I had at 16-17 owning my first GTI, paid for in cash earned for two years prior, nothing like it.
Trying to get both out of one newer car, I found I lost a sense of value and the true "ownership" feeling. Something you never feel on a lease (imo), it's basically a rental that you know you won't buy out because that "next" model is right there waiting. The auto makers have done a great job at this, as of late
I was also a DD warrior in the past due to owning a condo with only one parking stall, but now have plenty of room being away from the City, so that was a game changer as well.
