For sure it will be better with 245/40/17. This car is so under tired.
you will be ok with 17x8 ET40~42 for 245/40/17.
I'm even thinking about putting 245/40/17 on 17x7.5 rim.
I still have plenty of tire left for whole next year, so plenty of time to decide.
