Thanks for the autoleatherdye link. I think I will try it on an area of my black sensatec drivers seat. I have a spot that wore to the base color of white and I think a black dye could lessen the appearance.
To the original poster. I don't know how much work I'd put into dying the leather.
Sometimes the products require an initial abrasion to create a prepared surface that absorbs the dye. I don't know Id want to start sanding the leather. Also spot treatment is a lot different than pulling a leather seat out of the car and coloring the whole seat.
And finally leather and patina. The op's picture shows what occurs when someone
slides into a seat over a period of time and it is normal wear, a slight person may not create such markings but a larger guy will most likely be pushing against the bolster when dropping into the seat.
I personally would just condition the leather, but even that is debatable with plasticizers used on modern leathers. And I'd be very careful about not saturating the stitching in any kind of liquids.
