You can do staggered no problem. 235 front and 245 rear. You just have to make sure the rolling diameter is within 3%. That is how far the tire will roll in one rotation. Once you get more than 3% one set of tires is rolling faster or slower than the other set that the AWD differential will wear.

225/40-18 and 225/35-19 have the same DIAMETER when they roll so the tire is the exact same size in the wheel well, but the WHEEL is 1 inch larger so the sidewall of the tire will be 1 inch smaller. You bolt both those on the car and both tires will spin exactly the same, but now there is 1 inch less tire sidewall (with air inside the tire) to absorb bumps. But it looks cooler since there is a larger wheel with what looks like a smaller tire on it.
