Same (almost) issue. Caused by a leather strap falling across the latch just as trunk was closing. Was compressible enough that the trunk closed but the leather buggered up the unlatch mechanism. In my case I was able to push down on the trunk and then lift up while hitting unlock to finally get it to release. Didn't do any favors to the leather strap.
